Can any freelance trainers out there tell me how much is the current daily rate paid to freelancers working for the bigger training companies (Hemsley Fraser, Mast, etc, ) for example if they are running a one day course in presentation skills or managing change?
Many thanks!

day rates
Hi Mike
both the http://www.CIPD.co.uk and http://www.TrainerBase.co.uk conduct surveys on day rates.
Often the rate is not fixed but based on a number of factors – volume
notice, level of input etc (some of these organisations only have standard handouts and leave the trainer to put the programme together them selves.
From my experience, the bigger the company the lower the rate!

Rates are rising
Mike
I concur with Mike’s comments, well I would of course. Yes I perceive the larger training companies offer less favourable rates than the smaller.
Interestingly I am hearing that a number of the larger organisations who used to offer £200 ish per day, have raised their rates to £350. One of the biggest factors in this is not the training company itself but the contract they have won; often with a national government department, who of course uses price as a contributory factor in awarding the contract. So for the large training company wanting to offer a good rate to its associates, they are dammed if they do (don’t get the contract) and dammed if they don’t (get a poor name as a poor payer). Who’s be a large training company:)

I worked as a freelance IT trainer. My last session in that capacity was more than 6 years ago, and I was earning £325 per day. £350 is probably a fairly accurate figure for today’s market.
