I’ve never come across an “associate agency”;
There are providers for whom you work as an associate… and there are interim and recruitment agencies.
In either case a good starting place is the Personnel Managers Yearbook. It has a useful cross referenced section at the back.

I work with a company called ESI who specialise in Project Management training right across europe.
If Projhect management is your area there’s a number of other organisations who use Associate trainers. Let me know if youy need a fuller list.

It would be useful to know what type of training you specialise in. If I am right in thinking you might be interested in basic sales, service and management training, there are quite a few companies who work in the North West (not all based there). You might try Cegos, Tack, MTD, Underoak, Total Excellence Centre, or maybe Reed, Hemsley Fraser, LDL or Marcus Evans, or if you have IT experience try Broadskill (based in Chester). However, it is worth remembering that they probably get inundated with CVs from very competent freelancers on a regular basis. I would suggest doing a bit of research about each company first and targetting your efforts to match your greatest strengths with their existing products, clients or areas of growth.
As an additional strategy, it can be worth buddying up with a couple of other freelancers to form a small group of associates with different but complementary skills. You can then work together on bigger contracts and feed work to each other as opportunities arise.
It is a tough market out there at the moment so when selling yourself as a potential associate, as you probably already know, you will need to be dogged but never pushy and accept knock-backs without being disillusioned.
