I'm doing a Team Leader Team Work Development session and am basing it around Belbin. I'm looking for an exercise to show how the roles work together as a team.
Thanks

Belbin exercise
Hi Stuart
Don’t know if this is what you mean, but in a previous role, we got someone in from Belbin to help us work through some exercises. We were a team of 5 people, but 3 did the same job and the other 2 both did another job. We split into these smaller teams and worked through our team role profiles looking specifically at our strengths and what we did in our jobs to look at how we could best work together. Because we were working on ‘real’ stuff it had a lot of relevance. As an example, one of my strong preferences is as a Resource Investigator. One of our tasks was to find and book venues for training events. We realised that I was great at finding the venues but my colleague was much better at negotiating rates etc so that was how we split that task.
You don’t necessarily need someone from Belbin to do this. Once you have the individual reports you can just set it as an exercise
Hope this helps

sue’s idea plus
Stuart
I’ve successfully done this exercise with group where the task was to organise the staff Christmas party (which was a half day plus debrief exercise), the egg rescue exercise (about 1.5 hours and the moon survival exercise) (ditto) all worked well since the Belbin model is actually true to life.
PS the video camera was a great help!
