Migrating Back Home

default-16x9

Hi Everyone,
I am seriously considering migrating back to England after spending 20 years training in Australia. I have an English BA (hons) degree and have acquired the Australian equivalent of the CTP. I have been involved in corporate training – sales, customer service and technical training. I have also been heavily involved in call centre training.

I’m interested in any feedback on whether training managers would be happy to employ someone with my current qualifications and experience, or advice from other trainers who have been in a similar position.

Kind Regards,
Celia Rice

  1. I can’t see you having much problem
Honestly I can’t. You’ve got bucket loads of experience so I don’t think you’ll have any problems finding work at all.

I think lots of folk do what you’re doing (both from there to here and vice-versa) and succeed admirably.

Good luck with your move and welcome home.

  2. Returning to UK
    Celia
You shouldn’t have problems. Training in Australia is generally held to be at about the same level as the UK. AITD has a good reputation but is less well-known than ASTD, for example. Are you a member? It might be worth joining CIPD in the UK. This in itself won’t win you work but it will help you tap back in to what is happening over here.
A few managers may be a little uncertain at first but equally some may be intrigued. At the end of the day it is your skills, knowledge and sales ability that will be key.
    Very best of luck!
    Graham

  3. Opposite situation
    Hi Celia,

I am contemplating the opposite journey – have been in UK for 6 years, and am beginning to consider going home to Australia. Would love to chat about this off line (email should be available in the members directory)

    Regards
