Designing Case Studies

default-16x9

Do case studies have to be based on fact or is it appropriate to simulate a case study?

If designing a case study from scratch, where would you start and what kind of information would you gather?

I have always brainstormed and mind-mapped to get an appropriate intervention, but am interested in what other trainers think.

  1. Equality and Diversity Case Studies
I use both approaches with my case studies. Fact based on caselaw AND hypothetical but realistic on employment or customer care issues

  2. DEPENDS ON PURPOSE< TIME ETC
I find that engaging people in the client group (ie Participants themselves, their managers, peers, staff etc – even customers) in producing real/designing simulated case studies is good. Keep them short and/or presented to Participants in stages. Decide and also announce early whether you are more interested in the content of any findings or the style of their presentation.
