Competency Frameworks

Can anyone recommend a comprehensive competency library which they have used which covers most functions from Leadership through to Business Development?

  1. SHL Framework
    I have used the framework published by SHL, the leading psychometrics publisher, which is extremely comprehensive but their materials tend to be expensive.
    The other way to attack it is to generate a bespoke framework for your organisation, using some Critical Incident Interviewing of key staff to discover the wanted behaviours and then group them into the relevant competency areas.   2. For Your Improvement
    Can I suggest a book FYI – For Your Improvment by Lombardo and Eichinger. This is an extremely comprehensive library of competences based on extensive research carried out in the US. They also have a website : http://www.lominger.com – but this is more focussed on trying to sell their consultancy services

  3. Validated EI competencies
    We have had extensive success using the BarOn EQ-i emotional Quotiant inventory within executive and behavioural coaching. The competencies outlined have been scientifically validated. this enables the most skeptical of people to be challenged on everyday functioning. feel free to call if you would like to discuss further…

  4. Competency frameworks
    I have just completed a competency framework for a cross-European organisation. I was amazed how well it was accepted, and I think the key reason was that it was bespoke to the organisation, and everyone (HR, managers, appraisers, appraisees etc) could see its relevance and applicability to THEM.

    It is worth considering.
