Bristol L&D / Trainers Forum

default-16x9

Are there any forums / meetings in Bristol where L&D and Training personnel can meet to share ideas, encourage one another and network.

I appreciate that the CIPD sometimes have local events but these are more HR focussed.

Are you interested in meeting like-minded people in the heart of Bristol and would be able to attend say bi-monthly lunchtime meetings.

I envisage that it would work on principle of using a meeting room belonging to one of the attendees offices on a rotation basis.

  1. Great Idea
I would welcome such a forum and whilst I am from Taunton I would make the journey to have discussions with likeminded professionals to share better-practice (though wouldn’t imagine I would be able to host a meeting!).

  2. L&D Forum
    Simon,

I have just moved my learning consultancy, thinkingpeople, down to Bristol and think a forum would be great. I work from home but can offer my lounge as a meeting room if needed!

I look forward to hearing from you.

  3. UKHRD
    Hi

There is a group that has met in Bristol and Ledbury founded by members of UKHRD. I think there is another meeting taking place in November.

Also, I have been asked to organise such meetings for TrainerBase members, but have resisted the temptation. Perhaps I ought.

Contact of the person who was organising it was John Taylor jmt@Be-Resilient.com

    Hope this helps.

  4. Trainers fora in Bristol
An interesting idea. As I am based in Highbridge, soon to move to Weston, I probably could not make lunch time meetings but would be interested in knowing more. My company has a number of trainers based or living in and around Bristol.

Sounds like a great idea! I work as an Equality & Diversity Adviser for ACAS, which involves delivering a fair amount of training. I also work with two colleagues who deliver a huge range of training subjects. We are also based in central Bristol and may be able to provide a meeting room.
Let me know if you get this off the ground.

    Simon,

I am based in Nailsworth, and do have a virtual office in Bristol, and trying to get a Strategic Learning consultancy up and running. It would be good to meet people who like me have a L&D background, but like myself look at it not just from a pure HR department.
I think learning is about making the learning truely attached to the business which HR should support, but seems to be strugglnig to get 100% strategic engagement.
Might be able to use the conference facilities available to me at Bristol Uni where virtual office is.

  7. Me too!
I am in the process of moving to Portishead, and would be very keen to participate or help organise (once the move is completed!)
