Assessment & Development Centres

Could anyone supply me with information on the latest developments/research on assessment / development centres? This would relate to centres which link to promotion and/or personal development - not recruitment. I am currently undertaking a review of my organisation's current approach to assessment and development and I am looking for examples of best practice etc.

    One of my favourite topics. An awful lot of information I could provide. But of particular interest might be new approaches to supporting self managed assessment rather than the traditional approach employed by assessement/development centres.
