I have been offered the opportunity to work with an established organisation who will provide Marketing, PR, Sales, Admin and Support Services. All I'm required to do is Design and Deliver the training. I have an existing relationship with the organisation so the clients will come from my existing network and cross-referrals from them.

Has anybody got any experience of setting up this type of 'partnership' or any advice about contractual issues - like what percentages or minimums would be equitable on either side for sourcing or delivering the business?

    Strangely, I am interested in this issue for the reverse perspective – we want to take on Associates into a ‘marketing umbrella’ and I am looking for ideas about contractual issues.

    How about those of you out there who have hard experience shairnf the good/bad?

  2. some rules of thumb.
    It can be useful to distinguish between sourcing or finding new clients and the delivery of work.

    Taking the latter first, depending on the extent of th emarketing and sales support the deliverer should get between 70% and 90% of the fee i.e. the organisation takes a top slice of anything between 10% and 30%. I work on the basis that below 10% is naiive, above 30% greedy!

    A further % might also be payable as one-off for introducing the client. It could be fixed or as % of fees billed over a given time period.

    Clearly the level of the % for delivery and introduction need to reflect what the organisation wants to incentivise most – delivery or getting new clients.
