Hi, I have had a request to locate a development programme for 2 new line managers within our business. Ideally looking for something that covers off the basics e.g. managing team, delegation etc. Can anyone recommend any providers? Many thanks. Julie Grundy

Try MAP Assessment & Managing to Excel
If you search MAP Assessment on Google you’ll find there are numerous local providers who can help you out.
They initially assess your new managers against 12 core management competencies and accurately benchmark them against the other 15,000 managers who’ve been through the programme. You also get an insight into their preferred Management, Personal and Communication styles. This provides you with a unique 7 page report. http://www.mapassessment.co.uk/_includes/images/pdfs/SAMPLE%20PROFILE.pdf
From this report you easily identify exactly where each of them need development and you can use Managing to Excel, a flexible learning package, to quickly and effectively fill those gaps. This is more time effective for you because each of them will probably have different development areas and you can target their individual needs rather than sheep dipping them both through everything. There is also the option to have one to one coaching sessions and live training sessions.
You should be able to purchase this package for under £1500 and in a lot of areas there is Government funding available to cover upto 2/3rds of the cost.
Here at DPG we do offer the training, but normally we work with groups of 8+ so one of your local independent providers might be a better option, but if you can’t find a local provider let me know and I’ll put you in touch with one.

Funded training
Hi Julie
There is lots of funded training around, contact your local skills broker and see what they have on offer. If there are any local ILM programmes, they do some superb first line manager development.
There are also some good books around – plus on line resources. Depending on whether it’s one person or many, there are lots of options.
Good luck

A Vital Part of Line Management Training
Hi Julie
Whatever programme you set up, I would strongly recommend that you include Stress Management training. I know I have a vested interested, being a specialist in this area, but I do speak from my own knowledge as a Board Member. Basically, if you have a well workforce, with a motivated management team, you are going to produce better results. Good stress management training also helps individual employees manage their own stress levels and therefore maintaining optimum performance levels, as well as enabling managers to spot where staff need additional support and to develop their own positive management style, including effective communication – a vital part of stress management and a vital part of any successful business.
Hope this helps.
Warm wishes
Annie
