Accreditation help

default-16x9

Hi, We run an examining body for dance and drama. The syllabus is our own and is used for teaching young children and moves up to a teaching qualification. We are just completing re-writing the syllabus and would like it to become accredited, so the higher qualifications are on the NQF. Can you please advise what the next steps would be I have looked at the Ofqual, edexcel and OCN websites and really do not know which would be best for us.

Thank you

  1. Accrediting courses

    Hi

Qualifications are migrating to the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) at the moment. The first port of call might be OFQUAL who are the regulators for accredited qualifications.

It would be worth checking to see if what you are proposing to deliver is already there on the accredited qualifications website

I only really know about Work Based Learning rather than dance but I imagine the process will be similar. There needs to be a set of performance and knowledge criteria which are then assessed and quality assured (internally and externally)

  2. Accreditation

    Hi,

Is there a National Governing Body for dance and drama that you could work with?

OFQUAL will accredit qualifications on the new QCF (Qualifications Credit Framework) and would be a useful starting point. They work with with Awarding Bodies (OCR, Edexcel, City & Guilds, NCFE) to accredit qualifications onto the framework, making them nationally recognised.

Some Awarding Bodies also accredit training/syllabus to their own standards, without the need for it becoming a nationally recognised qualification. This may be an easier solution for you?

Hope this helps, if I can help please get in touch.

    Simon
