   Hi CS

   Before I start…Training doesn’t have to be "fun" but if you make it interesting the delegates might well have "fun" but it’s not a "must have" in order to provide good training.

   I am guessing they are all fairly young? What are youngish people interested in?

   Boys, Girls, Phones, Facebook, Money, Music and Fashion, TV, Movies, Sport…

   It would be fairly easy to produce a scenario linking all of the above and how Data Protection affects each…make it personal to them…ie "your phone" …"your Facebook account" etc A story would be a good idea…2A day in the life of…

   Thats a starter anyway…

2. Free dvd for Data Protection

   Hi there,

   I have a great dvd which I used to use (when I was in the UK!)

   It’s called the ‘lights are on’, and is available free.  Simply contact the Information Commissioner’s Office – link below, and they will send you a copy.

   It’s quite cheesy, but I have used it in a call centre (lots of young people!), and it always goes down well. There is a quiz you can play at the end also.

   The ICO has lots of sector specific info, perhaps you could do a quiz or exercise with the information?

3. e-learning solution for DPA Training

   Hello C Stone,

   I have have recently converted Instructor lead DPA training onto an online training and knowledge retention software as a service (saas) called soLearn, this enables a PC lead interactive learning system with automated responses to pass and fail and indeed their confidence when answering the question, with links to re-training documentation, powerpoint and notes, with another automated link to re-take the test all controlled by email!

   This is cyclical until they have successfully passed all of the knowledge retention questions, it may relieve the burden of delivering the training and, fully automates the process.
