Before you answer that question, let me make it even simpler: What makes you different from every other trainer out there? This is the question that separates successful trainers from those who struggle to fill their classes or programs.
The truth is, clients have endless options. They can find a trainer on almost every corner, online, through apps, or via referrals. So why should they choose you?
Your answer to this question is critical. It's what I call your "trainer identity" – the unique combination of skills, experience, personality, and values that make you stand out.
Let me ask you some tough questions:
Can you clearly articulate what makes you different?
Do your potential clients understand your unique value?
Is your difference actually something clients care about?
Does your marketing communicate this difference?
Many trainers struggle because they haven't answered these questions for themselves. They try to be everything to everyone, which means they're nothing special to anyone.
Here's what I've discovered after working with hundreds of trainers: The most successful ones have a clear answer to "Why train with me?" They've identified their niche, their specialty, their unique approach – and they communicate it consistently.
Your unique value might be:
- Your specific expertise (functional fitness, powerlifting, weight loss, athletic performance)
- Your training methodology or philosophy
- Your personality and coaching style
- Your results and track record

A *** good question actually….

Maybe the only good answer is a short answer like the one Rus gave… 🙂

The Appropriate Answer
I think in today’s world the answer is,
"I do it cheaper, faster, and with greater retention of the training."
