Hello
I'm searching for some on-line screening instruments to support our commercial trainee recruitment.
Two of the biggest differentiators for us are having an appetite for caluculated risk taking and an ability to take (timely) decisions. We'll be using these to screen a global/multi-cultural audience - but always in English.
Anyone got any experience of anything like this? Any psychometrics out there that measure these things?
Many thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
I suggest you have a look at Thomas International they have psychometric testing. Their website is good that has a helpful overview of the tests they provide. It sounds as though their GIA or TST tests are what you are looking for.
Thanks
Hi Paula
Thanks – I haven’t looked at Thomas for years so a good reminder!!
Yes, but…..
– there are dangers in measuring one or two aspects of personality in isolation. (and I don’t know a good test that does this anyway!) Your best bet is to use a full personality assessment, and focus on the parts you need. It sounds like you’re after courage, independence, drive etc. Talent Q’s Dimensions is highly regarded and versatile, but others (16PF5, OPQ) will also do the job.
Here is a link to a Talent Q report; (You don’t have to have everything here!)

In my experience, clients often say they only want to know xyz, but often change their minds after interview and ask me to look for other things. From a professional point of view, I want to see the full overview of the candidate to put what the client is looking for in context, and alert them to any potential concerns or strengths that may also have impact.
Hope this helps!

This is exactly what we are doing now (full personality assessment) – using the Hogan tools to profile successful traders.
