I have a requirement with regards some training we are developing. The customer is requesting that we provide industry recognised certification/ credits upon successful completion of curriculum/ modules.
Anybody any ideas where to stat with this one?

Accreditation
Hi Neil
You dont say what the subject matter is but I think general rules apply.
There will be a "National Association of…" or similar for the subject matter so I would first turn to them for advice. It may be they will take it on or send it down the line to a local equivalent body who are recognised for accreditating training material.
Again, generalising, they will want to see the material and the course before letting you use their "stamp" of approval. There might also be a licensing agreement or timescales to be re accredited etc etc
None of this is particularly cheap so I would do some thorough checks before developing anything.
Sorry its a vague answer…if you provide the subject mater you might get a more detailed response?
Good luck
Steve
Subject matter
Steve, thanks for your answer so far. The subject matter is cyber security.
Cyber Security
Sorry Neil if you said Ships and Oil Rigs I might have had a stab at it!
I would search for Cyber Security courses and see who they are accredited by and then you have your awarding body. Shouldnt be too difficult but expect some quite high costs. If the client is demanding "Industry Recognised" I’m suprised they have specified who it is they recognise as being the industry?
Good luck
Steve
The problem is…
My main problem is that the leading exponents of this are all US based and it seems that Euroe and the UK are lagging behind a bit. I’ll get there and thanks for the information anyway.
Could these help
(ISC)2 and ISACA awarded certifications are globally accepted with the CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CISSP, qualifications already recognised as the ‘must have’ requirements for a career in cyber security, audit and IT governance management. With over 150,000 qualified professionals worldwide, (ISC)2 and ISACA certification demonstrates proven experience and is the key to a higher earning potential in the future.
Thanks
You’re a star. Thanks very much. Somewhere to look.
Try Skills for Security
Neil
Try Skills for Security (likely) or Skills for Justice. They are the skills standard setting bodies for the industry and should help you. If nothing exists then as long as you can show a demand they will
If a framework already exists then they can tell you how to map your training to qualifications. As Steve says, be aware it can cost ,though SfS may have system of lower cost recognition like passenger transport (JAUPT), in this case l don’t know

Try this!
Hi Neil,
I have some Business Protection Officers going on a Diploma course run by The Security Institute at
1 The Courtyard
Caldecote
Warwickshire
CV10 0AS
08453 707717
training@security-institute.org
It’s accredited by the University of Portsmouth (Institute of Criminal Justice Studies) and edexcel. If you were to speak to the University you may find that they have some expertise in cyber security and could accredit your material, however my personal experience in getting an in-house programme accredited doesn’t warrant delivering a public flaming! If you’re interested in the caveats to be aware of please feel free to contact me directly.
It’s a great route for people who wouldn’t otherwise have a professional qualification route, but one has to be careful of what the accrediting body say they can/will do.
Hope that helps – and good luck!
Angela
Thanks to all who have replied
Your answers have been very useful and I’m sure they will al come in useful at some point. However, for now we have decided to go with an external organisation who have a recognised qualification system in place. we will partner with them for our project and I believe save ourselves a lot of time. One of our main issues here was, as ever time.
Thanks to you all again
