What is next for Team Development?

Hello All,

Just would like to know what tools, ideas and suggestions you have for developing teams?

We have used tools like My Brain, MBTI and also SHL profiling...however is there anything else that is new and exciting that has worked for you?

I would love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Fresh thinking

     hi Sair,

    We use all the ‘traditional’ approaches that you mention MBTi, Belbin, SHL, Drexlar-Sibbett, Tuckman etc…..and they do serve a purpose but we’re strong advocates of SDI (Strength Deployment Inventory) and Lencioni’s 5 Dysfunction. 

    We find these to be great at moving away from ‘heavy’ theory and analysis and quickly on to ‘so how do we apply this awareness’.

    Combined with our experiential outdoor (and indoor) tasks to embed the behaviours and explore the application we have great feedback on how effective they are.

    I would highly recommend Insights.  A great tool for understanding personal effectiveness and developing high performing teams.

  3. CAPP

    Have you thought of trying CAPP and their Realise 2 profile, as we have used them as part of our team development and found it useful.

    They do individual and team strengths profile and we have come up with a number of different ways internally that you can use the profile in addition to their suggestions.

    Thier assessment looks at what your Realised strengths, Learned behaviours, Weaknesses and Unrealised strengths are.  CAPP’s definition of a strength is not just something that you are good at, but it energises you when you use it.

    We have used the assessment profile as part of team building activities to share what energises and de-energises us, looked at complimentary strengths within the team and shared the strengths that we see in other members of the team.

    If you have done other profiles this could be something different to try.
