Hi, I,m currently writing a management development programme for middle managers. Can anyone help and suggest some great exercises, scenarios, energisers to use relating to influencing skills ! This 2 day programme will mainly be built around influencing skills for leaders doing 1-1s with individual team members and also for team meetings.
Any suggestions / ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Steve.

Influencing Skills
Have you thought of using some clips from Dragons Den and looking at the success or failure of people influencing the Dragons… ??
many thanks, interesting idea
many thanks, interesting idea.
Thanks Bryan, very much
Thanks Bryan, very much appreciated, i,ll look at this exercise as a possible icebreaker and introduction to the course.
beware Dragons’ Den…..
May I counsel you to use Dragons' Den very carefully……
The Dragons are swayed almost exclusively by the Logos arguments and there is very little room for Pathos or Ethos. With one or two exceptions, the Dragons are interested predominantly in facts and figures. IF you use DD case studies then you must also be quite clear about the fact that the Dragons have a very simple and easy alternative to being "in", and that is to be "out". Most influencing situations are not as simple or cut and dried as this.

Influending exercise
Hi Steve
You might try an exercise spawned from a conversation I had with a HR Director a few years ago. We were planning an influencing course and wanted to develop something around the difference between children's methods of influencing and how these developed into 'adult' speak (a lot of the participants for the course were parents). What evolved was the 'Child-Adult Influencing exercise'. It's a fun exercise but gets participants thinking about different tactics we use.
You can download a copy from http://www.abctrainingsolutions.biz/influencing_skills_free_download.html and adapt to your own needs.
Best of luck with the course.
Best wishes
Bryan
