Hi all,
Wondering if I can get a little help here. I would like to put a team member on an instructional design course. She has not had any experience in writing courses previously so it would need to be an entry level course.
The team member is becoming more and more involved in writing instructor led courses from scratch for our training and development. I have found a few courses in the states but not much in the UK. Does anybody have any suggestions for any vendors who they could recommend?
Many thanks
Jeremy

ID courses
Hi.
Yes, in general there are very few offerings in the UK, largely I think because the qualification isn't widely recognised by employers here. I would suggest starting her off with a few clever books e.g. Design for how people learn, by Julie Dirksen. And, sign her up for a project management course, such as Prince2. Two professional bodies that certify for instructional design are CIPD (UK based), and ASTD (US based). I have the ASTD qualification called CPLP and have found it to be a very useful.
Course
Training Foundation in Coventry do a good course in their TAP framework; try phonong them on 02476 411 288.
Personally, if you have someone doing instructional design, I would ask if they have any instructional experience/qualification, as this forms the foundation for designing training

I rate this course very highly as it can be completed online. There is a lot of collaborative learning. I don't think you get a qualification at the end through:
