Marketing New Workshops

I run a tiny startup specialising in workshops that promote well-being. Any ideas on how to promote a new workshop to companies on a shoe string budget?

    Hi Morya

    I'm presuming you are in the UK?

    I've done quite a few workshops and other activities through daily deal sites like Living Social and Groupon. maybe another avenue for you rather than approaching companies?

    You could also set up a Meetup group. For £90 a year you would have access to many thousands of people in your area who you could market your courses through. You could also have a presence on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin and join as many groups as possible to get your name out there?

    Hi Morya,

    its notoriously hard to market workshops unless you have a very large list of qualified prospects.  In the first instance you may be better piggy backing on other organisations who already have such a list.  So maybe you can offer a free taster workshop for your local CIPD or Chamber of Commerce or other such groups.

    would also recommend you check out Ian Brodie's advice on marketing at http://www.ianbrodie.com.  I have found it to be invaluable.

    Antionette's suggestions make very good sense.  

    Presenting short sessions at the local CIPD branch has been very helpful in setting up my business.  Also, try some of the local coaching association meetings.  

    The Chamber of Commerce is a mixed bag.  Personally, I have found my local Chamber (Manchester) to be rather useless.  Keen to take my money but very poor at communicating – very disappointing!

    Another approach that has worked really well is to liaise with centres that hire out meeting rooms / conference facilities, perhaps a local business centre.  Work in collaboration with them, offer free places on your course and ask if they will help fill your course using their marketing database.
