I'm doing some research into the various definitions that organisations have for what constitutes a "High-Potential" employee.
Would anyone care to share the definitions from their own organisations? I'm not looking for the level of detail of specific competencies and the like, just a one or two line headline, the sort of thing that you would give to the board.

High potential
Hi Phil, hope you are well. Two things come to mind from dealing with and having to select many people as high potnetial / key talent for leadership programs:
1. Self-awareness or the ability / attitude / motivation to become more self aware.
2. Learning ability – Once they have the awareness about what their poorest areas are they want to work on them and keep the communication loop going rather than say or do the "right thing" or what they feel is expected.
An equally important question is always "what the board wants from their future talent"? Unless they have a very specific definition there is a greater chance that you will seek out and find people with the "wrong potential". Often this is difficult to define as the board may describe attributes to meet the current rather than the future needs of their business.
