while sitting in a hotel waiting for a colleague to arrive for a meeting, I started to research some revised copy for a product of ours. While doing so I have noticed that some providers have changed the 'label' they are using for some services. In the long term this will lead to confusion by purchasers and providers alike. Worse this trend seems to start in the funded sector part of the market. for example 'train to gain' seems to be using the term organisational needs analysis to mean organisational level training needs analysis an ona may include a tna but they are different things. An ona is much more strategic than a tna and includes process changes. If a company buys a ona and only gets a tna the there will be a miss-match of expectations' why do organisations and providers feel the need to make a product seem more than it is? Do they not value what they are offering? be proud of your products aand call them what they are.

…perhaps they do it for the same reasons that many of the same people re-lable themselves as being expert in whatever the prevailing hot topic is? If it’s looks as if you’re selling something different or better than the rest, someone will buy it in the hope that it’ll be the answer
