"The Summer looks out from her brazen tower,
Through the flashing bars of July."
- Francis Thompson, A Corymbus for Autumn
If I didn't know the title of this poem, I'd still say that Francis is insinuating that July is the onset of Autumn. Which it definitely isn't Francis, so stop being so pessimistic. July is balmy, even in England. Balmy I tell you. Well, sometimes. A quick scan of wikipedia reveals that July appears to be independence month, with everyone from Somalia to Belarus via the US and Belgium celebrating their independence from colonial types, unwanted occupiers or even from themselves.
But more important than this, July is the month where I took over the reins at TrainingZone. 16 July, to be precise. Verity Gough, your wonderful and trusty guide on this journey of digital community engagement, went on maternity leave at the end of the month, but for two weeks we were side by side before I was left to walk alone, wobbling nervously like a newborn foal on ice-skates. It was a breeze though really. A selection of articles made their way into the ether, including more coverage of the world cup, pieces covering training those pesky millenialls, how to do your own PR, and how to set a fee. It was 'how to' month, see.
Anyway, tomorrow, we'll be covering another month. Can you guess what it is yet?
