Well it is that time of year again yes the awards are in full flow, The Baftas, The Brits and the crème de la crème The Oscars are looming. Each year the parade of luvvies, in their finery walk the red carpet in eager anticipation ‘will they’ or ‘won’t they win’. We all sit glued wondering if our favourites have won and if the critics have actually got it right. The night rolls on and on and the ‘thank you’ speeches seem to get longer and longer including the drama teacher who was the pivotal role in making it all happen; the tears, the emotion, it’s exhausting!
As I sat and thought about the lists of thank you’s, it struck me that without this list of people ‘the team’ all this would not be possible. So do we take for granted that every great actor is supported by a high performing team? If you check-out the detail you will find the most successful films achieve an abundance of awards for the director, the screen writer, set design, wardrobe, music the list is endless. The synergy created between each team member, the understanding or their individual roles and responsibilities must I am sure play a vital role in the successful delivery of a quality product. The actor appears to have complete trust in the team to deliver the required standard with the same end goal, the ultimate accolade, an Oscar!
What a great example of teamwork in practice? Perhaps in the day to day we take this effort for granted as our teams work together like clockwork. It’s only when one of the parts stops performing that we take notice. Maybe it is time that we looked in more detail and recognised outstanding teamwork. Not everyone aspires to an Oscar but to feel valued and recognised for a job well done. It can make a big difference to how they feel about the company and you. And the winner is................my money is on your business.
