Ok people, what about this; every training course that I have been on Aims and Objectives are displayed with confidence at the beginning of the session and recapped with pride at the end. Nothing wrong with that you might say. However, in my experience many trainers recap aims and objectives as a duty or as something they know they should do but miss the point. Often the delegates have not understood the course and when the recap process begins it is simply seen as a list of things that were covered and not necessarily information learnt. The big question; does the class understand what has just been covered and more importantly can they prove it. Summative and formative assessment I hear people say, great I say if it's carried out. I still think a lot of people leave a training session without the information they attended the session to gain; primarily because they didn't have the time or opportunity to practice skills or memorize knowledge.

Aims & Objectives
Hi
It depends on who is settign the aims and objectives. If the trainer sets the aims it is up to the trainer to make sure that the objectives are met. It is far better to have an agreed set of aims and objectives, perhaps by emailing delegates prior to the training taking place for suggestions and then agreeing them before the session starts. It helps the trainer to focus more accurately on the learners objectives and should make the training more targeted and effective.
