On leadership & project management

default-16x9

 A good business leader must possess a specific set of skills however many people are born with leadership qualities. When it comes to leadership development a certain set of factors have to be in place. These factors include level of work experience and the quality and Quantity of an individual’s qualifications. Project management training can help those who wish to develop their leadership skills. This in turn will aid in the completion of projects and to reach tight deadlines.

Although a lot of people possess a natural ability to lead others it is still necessary to help develop leadership skills by taking a class that is dedicated to furthering this area. There are certain factors to consider when it comes to how successful an individual can be when trying to develop their leadership skills;

*There needs to be a certain degree of support from the supervisor.

*The individual's ability to learn is also a factor.

Leaders are there to inspire a team and to make sure that an idea is made into a reality with a focus on doing things right. A leader must be able to negotiate, communicate and be the voice of reason.

For those who don't necessarily have the natural ability to lead then project management might be more their forte. A project manager’s responsibility is to ensure that the processes of a leader’s project are running smoothly. A project manager should have the following skills;

*Good communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

*The ability to think ahead.

*Have vision and focus.

*Be extremely organised.

Project managers should be able to communicate well with all levels of employee from executives to unskilled workers. As a project manager you will have to get used to delivering bad news, which might put you in a negative light among other employee. This is something minor to take note of. So, there are subtle differences between a leader and a project manager but ultimately their role is to inspire their employees and be there if any questions should arise.
