...into mid January, with the old TrainingZone but a distant memory, it's time to detail one of the bigger differences between the old and the new: discussion groups. Do we want to demote discussion from the TZ agenda? Exactly the opposite in fact; but we found that, ironically, the discussion groups were no longer the best place for discussion to take place. In keeping with our mantra of simplification, it seemed like a natural progression for us to focus on more popular areas of the site, namely Any Answers and Blogs. The two main functions of the old discussion groups was to ask questions of your peers, or opinionate about your specialist subject to the community. Both of these things can still be done through the Any Answers and Blogs sections.

Previous group owners, if they haven't already started a blog, have been encouraged to start one to address subjects that would previously have been through the old group posts. With the blogging process having been simplified (bar a few teething issues) and brought to the forefront, it's exciting to see how this is going to progress over the next few months.
