I've been a little quiet lately...
and that's not been intentionally. Well, it has, but it hasn't. You see, I've been overwhelmed by a wave of client work and business development work ever since I got back from a lovely half term break.
I'm guessing that many people reading this can relate to this. However, it's also indicative of the 'feast' vs 'famine' scenario that many trainers face. The problem is with 'feast' vs 'famine' is stressful and exhausting. If you are not worrying about where the next piece of work is coming from, then you are worrying about how you are going to fit it all in. This is not a healthy state of affairs. Trust me, I know this from personal experience!
So, how do you break this cycle?
My personal opinion on this matter is to have a core marketing system which you do week in, week out. You make sure that you always leave enough time in your diary to do this core marketing system. It's a lot simpler to say than do in practice.
So, what should go in your core marketing system?
1. Keeping in touch processes with key contacts - e.g. important clients, introducers or associate work providers
2. A regular blog article, which you write to a realistic schedule
3. 9 mins a day on LinkedIn - regardless of whether you are running a workshop that day
4. Dipping into twitter once a day to chat with your network
In my view, everything else can wait.
What do you think?
