Book Review: The Step-Up Mindset for New Managers

default-16x9

This self development guide for new managers has been written by Margo Manning asnd will prove very helpful not only to the new manager but as a reminder or refresher to any manager.

It is well strucutured and can be used as a self development tool working methodically from Chapter one through to Chapter 11, or to dip in and out of to suit your needs. at the time.

Chapters one through six and chapter nine help you to understand yourself - who you want to be as a manager, and I think also as a human being. Chapters seven, eight, ten and 11 look at different elements of the management role - your team; communication; goal setting and the holy grail that is time management!

Each chapter is easy to read and follow as it is written in an engaging and straightforward way. Each chapter ends with a reflection exercise and action planning section. This is ideal to encourage readers to complete all stages of the learning cycle to maximise the benefit they get from reading this book as a learning resource.

It includes a nice balance of models and explanations and each chapter could stand alone to enable busy managers to include reading this in thier day.

A perfect giveaway at the end of a management development programme or as a welcome gift to newly promoted or recruited managers.

I'll be sharing it with the managers I support thats for sure!
