The latest edition of Key Skills Work, a newsletter published for those involved in delivering key skills training, reports on a number of projects recently completed to help provide support to assessors and training providers.

The E-skills NTO, the National Training Organisation for the IT industry has developed a series of self-assessment materials for learners to assess their competence in IT. The assessments are intended for those undertaking Modern Apprenticeships in IT-related jobs, and have been put together in response to requests from providers and employers for help in linking key skills to IT job roles.

The Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority have put together a set of learner support materials, which may also be relevant to other sectors. Currently only 10% of learners in the sector complete their Modern Apprenticeships, and the materials should help to improve this figure.

The Community Justice NTO recently put together a framework for the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship for those interested in working in the sector, which covers jobs which work with victims of crime and crime reduction.

Skillset, the National Training Organisation for the media industry, has created a set of learning materials covering IT, application of number and communication.
