a seasonal question……

A Father Christmas was fired after upsetting children by revealing Santa isn't real. The incident raises questions about whether the employee received proper training and whether his dismissal was justified under employment law.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later; a Father Christmas has been sacked for reducing children to tears….

Was he "briefed" and  trained correctly?  ie was he expressly instructed and trained to lie to his customers?  To give a false name and address?

To raise an expectation that he would then signally fail to match: "What would you like for Christmas?" and then give them whatever came out of the bag next.

If he wasn't clearly instructed to do this then could he sue for unfair dismissal?
