A Trainer’s Poem

default-16x9

The Presentation - A Poem by Jeremy Woods

You shake with the words that strike you -
'You can do it Will,
You can make a presentation
That'll make an audience thrill,
Just about twenty minutes, they get so restless see,
But don't forget it's really important
And we trust you with the key.

They'll just be a few main customers,
Only about fifty in all.
They just don't think too much of us,
But we know you can enthral,
Win back our reputation, get those sales on the line.
Yes, your the one for this job,
We know you'll do it fine.'

So with heart beating with trepidation,
You set to, with all your might
There'll never be another chance; you've got to get it right.
With charts and graphs and overheads and flips charts all a glow
With the processor melting in your laptop.
You're ready to give it a go.

The only person in the world, you stand up and do your stuff.
Are they listening, or asleep out there, or have they had enough?
Relief floods fast, you've done your best,
They surely haven't been bored?
From somewhere in the background,
Colleagues, one by one, applaud.

Out of the audience a member approaches
And shakes you by the hand.
'We're still not impressed by your company, Lad,
But come and join our band!'
