Surrey TEC launched their Access to Opportunities website in 1997 in response to the Fryer report on Learning for the Twenty-first Century, which recommended that 'the provision of up-to-date, accessible and impartial information and advice will be essential if a strategy of lifelong learning for all is to be successful.
The site is aimed at individuals seeking impartial information, advice or signposting on careers or learning related issues. It can also help organisations that offer advice and guidance, such as Libraries, Training Providers, Citizens' Advice Bureaux, Careers Counsellors and employers.
The training area of the site has information on study techniques, including a link to a useful list of learning skills resources put together by Plymouth University.
The site also links to the SERIf website, which has been created to give access to information about thousands of training courses across the South East of England.
There is also information on finding careers advice, although a couple of these links weren't working when we looked.
Surrey TEC can also boast a programme they have specifically developed for young people called SkillsGeneration, which is an NVQ-based training programme with local employers.
