A software company has developed an ingenious addition to the range of tools available to recruiters. The Talking CV allows personnel and recruitment staff to record online the responses of applicants to a series of pre-set questions and to playback the results using conventional video streaming capabilities on their own monitor. The Talking CV can then be assessed alongside the paper CV as part of the preliminary assessment of applicants prior to interview. Talking CV is a flexible PC-based software programme which uses a small camera to capture the candidates responses to the pre-programmed questions. At present, the applicant cannot do this from their own desktop - they will need to attend a recording session at either the company's offices or a recruitment agency where the recording technology is made available. The resulting clips can then be uploaded over the web to the selection panel.
