Any ideas for launching a CPD scheme for Senior Managers?

We are about to launch a CPD programme for Senior Managers and would like to benefit from the experience of other organisations who have working CPD schemes.

1. How do you get busy senior managers to commit to the scheme?
2. What sort of activities work well?
3. Anything to avoid?
4. Suggestions for making sure they record relevant activities.
5. How many hours per year do you recommend as an ideal target for CPD Activity?
