I manage a quick access housing project for homeless men & women for a charity in Nottingham. We need to try & address more than just offering a bed. I'm looking for training materials etc. to help find ways of tapping into the huge potential many residents have, but have had the stuffing knocked out of them by society et al !
I would be grateful for any ideas/ materials ( cheapo please!) that would help us engage with folk re; lifeskills & personal development
Thanks

contact details for homeless training project
Off the Streets and Into Work is an ESF/SRB funded project covering central London that provides guidance and vocational training to the homeless, working via short stay hostels.
A new aspect of the project is capacity building, i.e. staff training and networking so that the staff in the homeless agencies can give better guidance and the staff in local colleges can give more appropriate education and training.
Another innovative aspect of the project is the development of ‘soft’ indicators of progress, which are steps on the way to becoming ready to being able to training or employment.
You can contact them on 0171 226 0909. The director is Chris Robinson.
