Are you working harder?

default-16x9

A BBC survey for the programme Newsnight reveals that British employees believe they are working harder now that a decade ago.

The survey, conducted by the University of Kent, further reveals that Scottish workers are feeling the pressure more than any other regional area.

  1. Suspicious
I suspect that if you had asked this same question over the last 100 decades, the majority of answers would have been yes.

There is a psychological barrier for many people to admit they are working less or slower even though this may or may not be true.

I am not really convinced the answer to this particular question sheds any light on anything.

  2. Don’t misread the survey methodology!
In this particular survey comparison results were obtained by one survey in 1992 and another new survey in 1997. It wasn’t a case of asking workers whether they worked harder than ten years ago as I read it. Those results would undoubtedly give an unfair result. I am still wondering why it has taken from 1997 to get the results out though and why they’re being represented by the BBC as a ten year comparison when they appear to be a five year comparison!
