We currently run assessment centres as part of our recruitment process but there is a wide variation in the skills of the observers and I would like to source some training for our observers to attempt to consolidate this approach and demonstrate a consistent marking procedure accross our recruitment team. Does anybody know of/or can recommend a training provider focusing on assessment centres or behavioural observation?
Thanks

We used ASE some years ago and they proved very useful.

Behavioural Observation Training
Nik – a while ago we retrained managers who had been acting as observers on development centres for some time. While they started believing that they had little to learn – they ended up saying that it was the best training they had ever had. And the results have shown through in their observations. We worked in partnership with a small consultancy. If you’d like to discuss this further, do feel free to contact me.

OBSEVER TRAINING
The best way we have found it is to do the following:-
1) Ensure the competencies have adequate behavioural definitions.
2) We then use actors trained in business to provide short cameos on each dimension and get the assessors to evaluate and discuss.
3) When the behavioural assessments are sufficiently convergent we do a dummy run of the AC/DC and again evaluate the ratings.

Using Assessment Centres
I am recruiting staff to work overseas and would like to use some form of recruitment testing or assessment centre to validate the skills and abilities of the candidates. The staff will be managers, accountant/book-keepers/administrators and technical support staff. If anyone has used any tests or assessments which may be of use I would be grateful if you could provide me with details.
Thanks
