Kate Mara is a qualified Career Coach and specialises in career transitions and self-directed career development.
Working in New York, Dublin and London, Kate has coached both individuals and organisations, predominantly in the creative and digital industries, through evidence-based career development models designed to ground individuals in meaningful work that reflects their strengths and values.
Through small group trainings and 1-2-1 coaching, Kate facilitates an exploratory and iterative approach to career development. Originating in the performing industries but transitioning into employment law, HR and training, Kate has developed a methodology that blends the creative and the practical to get the best results.
Modern organisations are reckoning with shorter-term alliances with their employees. Those greeting this as an opportunity to lead as a development-focused employer are thriving, and career development is proving to be a reliable means to engage and support team members for the duration of that alliance. Kate, and her company Livelihoods, is currently partnering with L&D and Senior Leadership teams to apply these principles during the tubulence of Covid-19.
Individuals have recognised that modern career require a proactive, and conscientious approach to career development independent of one’s employer. Coaching and leveraging tried and tested strategies to progress is yielding results. The lockdown has provided time for reflection and re-evaluation. Beginning from a psychodynamic approach, and working on strategic self-reflection, network development and career-prototyping Kate is working with individuals keen to find constructive ways through this time.
