After 15 years retail management experience and a post grad cert in Personnel Management with IT (those were the sort of qualifications the old IPD thought up)I decided that I wanted a career in training.
I am fortunate enough to work for a fantastic company who have given me one of the most exciting training roles available. I also now have my CTP.
After cutting my teeth on basic pre-designed induction training I am now fortunate enough to scope out, design, deliver and evaluate pretty much every course I’m involved with. I am given plenty of scope to be creative and this helps turn projects from hard work in to fun .
I’ve just finished delivering SAP implementation to all our first line reports from a finance perspective and to all our engineers from a maintenance and ops perspective. I’m now working on the implementation of a global LMS and have the added challenge of having to consider differing cultures and their expectations of training.
My Motto: If it doesn’t surprise and engage the learners and wow the client then don’t even bother to evaluate it.
Leaders need to stop the self-sacrifice cycle
