I am a self confessed philomath, I love learning! Hopefully I carry this passion with me in my role as a Tutor delivering Level 5 CIPD Learning & Development, fully on-line. I have worked in Learning & Development for lots of years (a lady never divulges her age!) and have worked across sectors in numerous roles ranging from Training Officer to UK Curriculum Development Officer. A bit of a maverick, I like to do things slightly differently and challenge the norm, well, why wouldn't you? I love it when my students get that 'lightbulb' moment. My love of learning is currently being nourished as I am studying neuroscience, so if you're ever in close proximity to me, beware as I will probably try and foist my inner geek onto you!
I am passionate about mental health awareness and breaking the stigma around depression/stress/anxiety. As someone who has experienced depression over the years, I understand how isolating and scary it can be if the correct support is not available. I have also seen the anguish in a previous role, when individuals have felt too scared to be open and honest about mental health problems. I am an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor (MHFA England) and I'm very interested in workplace wellbeing. Sir Cary Cooper is a personal hero of mine (look him up, he's amazing!).
When I'm not working I can be found roaming around South Yorkshire with my long term foster Labrador and OH whilst at home, four rescue cats will be wreaking havoc. I love wildlife and nature, both therapeutic and, of course immersing myself in podcasts/books/radio programmes about anything to do with neuroscience and biophilia.
