In an opinion piece in this week's issue of People Management, Ian Cunningham - one of the eight authors of the Declaration on Learning - responds to the range of comments and reactions.
We comments on the uptake from around the world and the level of debate which the Declaration has stimulated. It has contributed to an increased debate amongst managers about their role in training, and also to the shift away from regarding learning us solely training 'courses'. He reemphasises the importance of diverse approaches to learning.
The Declaration seeks to work in support of groups such as the Campaign for Learning who are moving in similar directions.
A final interesting quote: "The current interest in knowledge management will prove to be another passing fad unless people learn how to use such knowledge. Without the right kind of learning, knowledge management is useless."
