Back from Online Educa…

...and glad to be at the desk and able to reply to a few of the emails that have been building up over the last 4 or 5 days.

It's been another great conference; a meeting of minds and controversial ideas, as well as the ubiquitous vendors that all seemed to have the solution (are there really that many solutions to one problem? - apparently yes). Jack Wills's Ignite-style talk on Thursday night was a highlight, if only for its, er, bold ideas about HR; Dr Peter Reuter's eye tracking technology was a glimpse into a future of true technological innovation; Julie Wedgwood's content curation talk showed that L&D can easily align itself with the emergence of the semantic web, and it seems L&D doesn't see the Cloud as being as intangible as the physical manifestation of its namesake will always be.

Do you know what the best thing was? I didn't hear the phrase 'doing more with less' once. Money (and lack of it) is of course an issue for everyone, but the onus at Online Educa was INNOVATION and it felt like there was a real spirit of creativity in the face of seemingly unendingly financial hardship for many businesses.

Plus, I got to play Space Invaders using my eyes to control the spaceship's lasers. That's the coolest demonstration I've ever seen. Hands down (heh heh).
