I have a group of people that I am spending 5 hours with delivering 'Back to Work' interview training with. I need to cover things like;
Absence in the UK, facts, figures, costs to the economy and business.
The causes of absence from work. How to spot genuine absence from non genuine absence. The ‘knock on’ effect of not managing absence
The reasons and the benefits of an absence management policy.
Preparing for the interview
Questioning techniques, counselling for a non counsellor.
If anyone has any ideas for exercises and approaches I would be very grateful
Cheers

imagine…..
…that you owned this company and therefore any unjustified absence was paid for directly out of your pocket…..how would you approach absence then?
In reality a manager who allows unjustified absences (for "allows" read also encourages, condones, turns a bind eye to, is afraid to manage) is wasting his or her budget…this damages the security of the team as well as the manager and therefore reflects on their management ability and (should) have an effect on their career.

Thanks Rus, this might be useful to build into an exercise
