Barclays, Gadbrook Park Contact Centre has scooped top honours by winning The City & Guilds Employer of the Year Award, while Jaguar and Land Rover took The Investors in People Outstanding Workplace of the Year Award at this year's National Business Awards.
The judges selected Barclays because, they said, it showed how company values and a stimulating workplace had taken it to the leading edge in its industry. The centre's workforce were said to have a “can-do attitude” and willingness to meet challenges head on.
Jaguar won as a result of its 'Create the Winning Team' (CTWT) policy; a people strategy which has been key in creating a collaborative, performance-focused corporate culture.
The National Business Awards, aims to allows British businesses to showcase their achievements and benchmark their successes against firms and bodies of all types.
The combined turnover of entrants this year was £366 billion with a profit of £32billion while it represented 1.8 million UK employees and 250,000 personnel overseas.
Other finalists in The City & Guilds Employer of the Year Award were: Assael Architecture, BaxterStorey, ClinPhone Group, Imprint, NatWest North Region, Premier Grocery Products, Principality Building Society, Strategic Team Group and Welsh Assembly Government.
Other finalists in The Investors in People Outstanding Workplace of the Year Award were: Chess, GenSet, Lindum Group, N4 Solutions, Royal Bank of Scotland, Saga Services, Edinburgh Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Strategic Team Group and Wilson James.
