Recently the Basic Skills Agency held a joint conference with the UfI which focused on:
* the way forward for UfI
* envisaged approaches and materials that will allow UfI to reach out to new basic skills learners
* the key short, medium and long term plans to deliver basic skills through UfI
This was an important conference, setting out developments which could revolutionise the way in which basic skills is taught and delivered to learners. If you were unable to attend the conference, you can now acces a special website which we have set up to disseminate the key points and the most exciting developments. This includes a speech from Anne Wright, the chief executive of UfI, and an interview with Sir Ron Dearing, UfI's recently appointed chairman. The site also includes demonstrations of some of the new approaches to teaching and learning that were presented on the day, including:
* Basic Skills Online - on-line tutor support for technology and basic skills
* Skillsbuild - ICT based basic skills assessment and learning
