Benchmarking Training Procedures

Benchmarking training procedures involves comparing your organization's training portfolio with others to identify best practices and improvement opportunities. This process examines key aspects like assessment methods, delivery locations, costs, and administrative structures across different industries. If your organization participates in such comparisons, sharing details about course structure, evaluation methods, and completion requirements can provide valuable insights.

I work for one of the largest Care Services companies in the world and as part of my objectives I have been given the task of comparing our training procedures with another company. This does not necessarily have to be in the same sector – it can be from any company where training is a huge part of their development.

In short – my task is to speak with an organisation’s internal training/people development team, to benchmark and compare their training/people development portfolio against ours.

If anyone is willing to share the sorts of details I am looking for are:

• How are the courses assessed (exams, course work, practical, etc) ?
• Where does the training take place?
• When and where do the exams or assessments take place?
• Are there any other costs (e.g. books, materials, software)?
• Are there penalties if my employees do not complete their courses or are absent?
• How are the courses organised?
• How are the courses administrated?

  1. I am doing the same
I also am looking at trying to benchmark a large local authorities training provision. You may have seen my earlier question. If you get in touch we could discuss.
