Callnet cut off over unpaid bill

default-16x9

Internet Service Provider (ISP) Callnet have had their services cut owing to an unpaid £15m bill. Cable & Wireless Communications took such measures owing to the high costs of running the unmetered internet access service. However, the metered service was reinstated the same day after negotiations between Callnet and Cable & Wireless Communications.

This was made shortly after Callnet closed the unmetered service named Callnet0800 as it was not proving economically viable and the service had around 100,000 users.

Gerard Farley who had recently been brought in by Callnets shareholders as a change in the management structure last month admitted that the UK internet business had nearly brought the whole company into serious trouble and should have been closed a lot earlier. Another two weeks and Callnet would no longer have existed.
