The failure of training departments to deliver a measurable return on training investments is handicapping growth and development in most organisations. A measurable return on investment can only be shown if any initiative can contribute to the improvement of one of the three key business benefits and frankly most training departments fail to plan appropriately from a business benefits perspective.     Yes training can become a profit centre and yes all training and L & D departments must be able to show specifically how and where their programmes and courses reduce costs, avoid costs or increase revenues for the organisation.

    We build our programmes around defined business issues, business outcomes and measurable ROI. I’ve found Paul Kerns book – Evaluating the ROI from Learning – to be a valuable resource to help me identify how to achieve this for my clients.
