I need to keep a clear record of which staff have received training in various areas, also who has attended training since a particular date, what training has been done by a particular group etc. Can anyone recommend a good database?

The Compel Database – Training Manager
I have been using Compel (Computers in Personnel Limited) since April and have found it extremely useful for Training Records. Like all Databases, it is time-consuming to set up but worthwhile. The “HELP” line has also been very good.
try MS Works
Try MS Works this is so simple and easy to set up and can later be moved into ACCESS if you are brave.
Database
I have been working on a database exactly what you just descibed yet more advanced for the past 5 months for Brunel Training Group in Bristol…
I would be interested in talking to you or showing you our database, in which we could come to a resonable arrangement.

Development in Access
Our customers have found that packages on the market never do exactly what they want and can be expensive to support or to add to later. We develop bespoke systems in Access based on your requirements, using a methodology that is fast, flexible and reliable.
Generally we leave the systems “open” so that you can add your own queries and reports. This reduces development time and enables you to adapt the system to meet your changing needs.
Typically the development would be around 5 days for a training records system (reusing ideas / learning / components from previous developments).
Please contact me if you would like more information.
Access Training Administration Database
I’ve written two Access databases for two medium sized training departments. Both track courses (multi-day), classrooms and students. Double booking is not possible and a reminder report that counts down and beyond the event date is included, as is auto email to students of joining instructions etc. Course certicate production is at the touch of a button. Stats can be easily compiled from an Access query. If you would like to know more please email me or call 024 7669 3901
