case studies for management training

Hi all

I would like to utilise a case study exercise approach to end a management programme. Hopefully it/they would 'test' the participants knowledge of the various managerial approaches/methodologies  to key areas such as performance management, management styles, communication, decision making etc...  which would have been explored in the various modules. Does anyone have  anything suitable or know who I could approach to discuss my requirements with? I have looked on line but apart from one American book I couldn't find anything.

    Frankly you really would be best served by writing your own (or commissioning someone to write some for you).

    This would allow you to tailor the situations to your own business sector as well as working in procedural aspects that relate to your own organisational SOPs and policies.

    I've done this frequently with clients and in my experience there is little to be gained from producing very longwinded case studies; keep them relatively short and sweet, people just won't read/won't have time to read War & Peace so try to keep each topic/element down to a few hundred words.  This has served people very well in the past.

  2. Get something from the workplace?

    Hi Rob, I would agree with Rus, something to the point will be more beneficial.  I can't tell from your thread if you're an in-house trainer or a consultant.  Either way it's worth picking some brains from senior individuals within the organisation as they're bound to have some ideas or can describe a real life situation which could be altered to protect the innocent.  Failing that, an icebreaker to test the various skills can be a good idea, sometimes a well planned game can be equally effective.
